A charity has launched legal action against the board which oversees social care in the Capital alleging its proposed cuts to community mental health services are “unfair and illegal”.

The Ripple Project has written to Edinburgh’s Joint Integration Board (EIJB) petitioning against its newly approved strategic plan, which sets out cuts to preventative services in the Thrive network of £2.2m.

The letter, the first step in applying for a judicial review, describes the plan as “irrational” and calls for it to be scrapped.
