There’s a tremendous buzz of chatter and outbursts of communal laughter inside the entrance foyer on the third floor of 9 Haymarket Square, the newest business address in the Capital. Here a cohort of around 50 aspiring accountants, consultants and advisors are being welcomed for their induction week at Deloitte.
This is the brand new 16,383sq ft office space - to be officially opened tomorrow by Scottish long distance champion athlete Eilish McColgan, who studied maths and accountancy and graduated in 2013 from the University of Dundee.
The ‘Big Four’ accounting firm, which now has 433 people based in Edinburgh across its auditing, consulting, tax and digital transformation functions, is already settling into this next generation office. By all accounts, the Deloitte teams are delighted and it is helping to attract more people back from working from home.
