City sports campus plans in serious trouble as trusted advisor quits
Exclusive: Resignation is "massive blow" to hopes Edinburgh developer AMA will finally deliver facilities promised 22 years ago

ONE of the key figures behind plans to finally build a city sports campus promised 22 years ago has quit, raising serious doubts about whether the scheme will be delivered, The Inquirer can reveal.
Penny Lochhead, the sports consultant appointed to liaise with the community on the Cramond campus development, has resigned from her role in which she acted as ‘a bridge’ between residents and luxury housebuilder AMA.
The director of PMR Leisure was brought in to help broker an agreement between residents and AMA for a downsized sports facility, after the economic crash left the developer unable to deliver the “gold standard” centre it had originally promised.
Community leaders say Lochhead had won their trust and her departure has dashed hopes an agreement on an acceptable scheme might be within reach.
That leaves the clock ticking on potential enforcement action against Edinburgh-based AMA, which is also the develop behind plans to redevelop the Summerhall arts village in the old Dick Vet School off the Meadows.
